Outpatient Counselor – START-ODS Program (Immediate Need)
Position Summary
Grandview Foundation has an immediate opening for an Outpatient Counselor with experience serving START-ODS (county) patients. The ideal candidate is an experienced and compassionate professional with strong clinical skills, knowledge of county program requirements, and the flexibility to support both counseling and admissions functions.
This position will also collaborate closely with the Admissions Team and serve as a Back-Up Admissions Counselor as needed.

Outpatient Counselor – START-ODS Program (Immediate Need)
Position Summary
Grandview Foundation has an immediate opening for an Outpatient Counselor with experience serving START-ODS (county) patients. The ideal candidate is an experienced and compassionate professional with strong clinical skills, knowledge of county program requirements, and the flexibility to support both counseling and admissions functions.
This position will also collaborate closely with the Admissions Team and serve as a Back-Up Admissions Counselor as needed.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop individualized treatment plans, including goals and objectives, and maintain timely progress notes.
- Provide individual and group counseling to support clients in overcoming substance use disorders and achieving recovery goals.
- Collaborate with the Clinical Director and coordinate care with mental health professionals.
- Participate in weekly Case Conferences to review client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Provide crisis intervention services when necessary.
- Serve as a liaison between clients and outside agencies, including Probation, Parole, DCFS, and other service providers.
- Facilitate weekly therapeutic groups.
- Create individualized Continuing Care Plans for each client.
- Complete all required documentation accurately and within required timelines.
- Communicate effectively with staff regarding client treatment concerns and progress.
- Work collaboratively with the Admissions Team to support intake coordination and continuity of care.
- Serve as a Back-Up Admissions Counselor, assisting with screenings, admissions processes, and client intake when needed.
- Strong documentation and organizational skills.
- Experience with PCNX (formerly SAGE) preferred.
- Experience working with Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) clients.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Understanding of admissions/intake processes within behavioral health or substance use treatment settings preferred.
Qualifications
Required Experience & Education
- Certified Addictions Counselor in good standing with:
- CCAPP
- CAADE
- CADTP
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in drug and alcohol treatment.
- Strong computer proficiency and excellent verbal/written communication skills.
- Reliable transportation.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Valid California driver’s license.
- Negative TB test (within past year)
- Fully vaccinated for COVID-19, including booster.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
